5 Simple Steps to Survive a Bad Day at Work

When you are working hard on your goals and trying to change your life, what happens when your supervisor at you job slings mud in your face? Most times, you go home and think about the situation the rest of the night, instead of working on your goals.

Sometimes our job situations are so bad, we think about specific “mud slinging” situations for days. We try to get these situations out of our minds so we can work on our goals, but our thoughts are trapped in our job. It is very difficult to rid our mind of these thoughts.

Often when we have problems at work, we become fearful of our only money source. It is difficult to find another job and get ourselves out of our current working environment because jobs are currently a scarcity.

We let our job problems consume our minds and not only does it get us nowhere on our goals, our thoughts interfere with other parts of our life. No matter what we do, we cannot clear our mind from thoughts of our job.

The trick is to recognize when your job is consuming your thoughts and then go from there. Below are a few suggestions to help you.

  1. You can only do what you are capable of doing. If your supervisor does not like it, deal with it. It is just a job you are working at to make some money until you can finish your goals and be on your own road to success. Do the best you can and leave it at that.
  2. Utilize any spare moments you have at you job to benefit yourself. Purchase a small spiral notebook and make notes to yourself about any ideas or suggestions you may have about your goals. You would be surprised at how many great ideas you can accumulate in just a short amount of time.
  3. On your way home from work, think about your goals. Get your mind ready so when you get home, you can concentrate on yourself and benefiting yourself. Think about the progress you have made on your goals so far. Think about what you will accomplish today, tomorrow, and the next day.
  4. Don’t rehash what happen at work. So your supervisor got mad. Everyone gets mad at one time or another. If you go over the situation again and again in your mind, it only gets bigger and goes deeper into your mind. Soon your thoughts are consumed with “should of, could of, and would of” type thoughts. You will spend days thinking these type of thoughts. It’s not worth it and will keep you from accomplishing your goals.
  5. Exercise after you get home from work. Go for a walk or run, or take the dog for a walk. Do some sort of exercise. Exercise can give you naturally good feeling.

Whatever you decide to do after work, do something. Don’t sit around and be upset over what happen to you. Get out and do something. If you have to let your goal’s daily task go for a day, then do it. Go back to your daily tasks only when you can devote 100% of your attention to them.
