Why is it we so often believe that we can continue to do things that aren’t working; associate with people who aren’t good for us; and travel down roads that dead end- and still achieve our dreams?
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PRAY FOR…
They say, “Be careful what you pray for.” Why? Because often we are unwilling to pay the price for what we say we want? Many times I have prayed for; begged for; bargained with God for the desires of my heart and when I finally got them-I was still unhappy. In some cases, I was absolutely miserable. I wasn’t prepared for the price I had to pay, or the changes I had to make to sustain my dream. I was quite comfortable doing things the way I’d always been doing them.
GROW UP!
However, as we journey towards becoming the person God intended us to be, some of the things we once enjoyed; some long held beliefs; and even some people who previously played a major role in our lives, no longer fit comfortably. Achieving and maintaining our dreams requires that we “grow up.” Outgrowing things is a part of life; and the process can be painful.
But, everything and everyone has it’s time and place. Scripture says, “When I was a child, I talked like a child; I thought like a child; I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.” (1 Corinthians 13:11)
GET READY FOR CHANGE
If we desire to step up to the next level, we must accept the change that it will require and remember, no matter what we want for ourselves, God’s plan is much bigger, better, and more wonderful than we could ever imagine.
So when you start praying for God to bless you with the desires of your heart-Get ready! Get ready for some changes.
THY WILL BE DONE
And remember, when you recite the words, “Thy will be done,” you open the door for God to work in your best interest, which may or may not line up with what you had in mind.
There’s a wonderful line from an India Aire song that says, “Last night I prayed for God’s will to be done…the very next morning you were gone.” God’s will is not always what we want, but it is always for our best. This, I know for sure.
So as you journey towards your purpose, be sure you remain open to His will and pray for the ability to make the changes your dream will require.
Peace and Blessings,
Chrystal
