Become More Confident – 5 Natural Ways

If you suffer from low confidence or low self-esteem then you might just find that the following 5 natural techniques and tips will help you. I suggest you try ALL of these for at least two weeks.

1. Positive Visualisations

You are what you think. If you think negatively that’s what you will become – a negative person. If you think positively that’s what you will become – a positive person.

You have thousands of thoughts running through your mind every single day. Your thoughts are generally related to the many experience you have had in your life. If you have had positive happy experiences you will run them over in your mind as happy thoughts. If you have had bad negative experiences you will them over in your mind as bad thoughts.

If you have low confidence and would like to become more confident you need to to stop those bad, negative thoughts by drowning them out with positive thoughts.

Create a list of all the positive experiences in your life. These could be things that you have achieved, times when someone said something nice about you, problems you overcame or when some great event took place like a birthday, birth of a baby or when you met a good friend.

Whenever you think a negative thought you must replace it as soon as possible with a positive thought. This may take a little discipline but if you want something badly enough, to become more confident, then it will happen.

If you go on our website below you will be able to watch the first 20 minutes of the The Secret film. This is an amazing film that talks about the Law of Attraction – you will attract into your life what you are thinking. If you think you are a positive, happy, successful person then that is what you will make happen.

2. Long Term Rhythmic Diaphragm Breathing

People with low confidence tend to be more anxious and have more fear. These are caused by the stress of being who you think you are.

When you are in a negative mode your breathing quickens and becomes shallow. Your shoulders tend to rise as you breathe into the top part of your lungs. This is not good because your body is not being oxygenated effectively as there is less blood supply in the top part of your lungs.

To breathe effectively you need to breathe more into the bottom and middle part of your lungs where there is more blood supply. You can tell if you are breathing properly as your stomach will move in and out as your lungs are pushing down on your diaphragm muscle.

Rhythmic diaphragm breathing is where you breathe in for 5 seconds and breathe out for 5 seconds. Your body gets into a rhythm and this not only helps relax you but your body especially your brain is being nourished with more oxygen.

If you have an existing medical condition please consult your doctor before trying any new breathing technique. Your breathing should always be comfortable. Don’t overbreathe as you might faint.

* The author especially recommends this breathing technique as it has had a profound effect on his life. It should help you become more confident.

3. Deep Relaxation Helps Keep Stress Down

When you get stressed you tense up physically and mentally. The more you tense up the more impact on your body and mind. Things begin to happen. Neck and backaches. Trapped Nerves. Headaches. Inability to cope. Short tempers. Impatience.

This has an impact on your confidence levels. The more stressed you are the more pronounced are your emotions, fears and confidence levels.

To destress you need to do 2 things. First, learn how to relax every muscle in your body. Start with your feet and work upwards. Tense and relax each muscle a couple of times. Second, practice clearing your mind of all thoughts. This can be difficult at first but with a bit of discipline every day you should get there.

You can find more information on progressive muscle relaxation on our website below.

4. Your Diet Can Affect the Way You Think

If I said the meal on your plate could you cause you to be anxious, depressed exhausted or even emotional what would you think? Well believe it because many studies have shown that your diet can cause you to feel pretty bad.

You may be interested to hear about Hypoglycemia. This is when your blood sugar level goes too low and you don’t get enough glucose going to your brain. One of the causes believe it or not is eating large processed meals full of sugar over a long period of time which constantly raises your blood sugar levels. After each meal your pancreas releases insulin to bring it back down. Then one day the pancreas has had enough because it is fed up with the constant large sugary, processed meals so it brings your blood sugar level down to a dangerous level.

Cut down on sugar, salt, fats and processed foods. Eat smaller meals more often. Instead of 3 meals per day have 5 to 6 smaller meals. If you do this your blood sugar levels won’t go as high or consequently too low and you might not get those emotional symptoms. If you want to become more confident don’t eat huge meals that might make you feel less confident.

Before going on or changing your dietary habits always consult your medical practitioner.

5. Hydration Re-Fuels Your System

Dehydration causes weight loss, tiredness, headaches, dizziness, deterioration in mental state, lethargy, change in emotions, feeling weak, falling, changes in ability to carry out activities of daily living, confusion. It also causes your urine to go dark yellow.

When there is a 1% or greater reduction in body weight due to fluid loss
dehydration occurs.

Water hydrates the body’s cells, helps flush our system and moves fecal matter.

You should drink between 8 to 12 cups of water per day. The amount should be based on your build. Drink more if you are a bigger person. If you train a lot then drink even more.

When your urine is pale yellow or clear you are hydrating yourself.

I hope the above make a difference in your life and help you become more confident and gain more self esteem. If you would like to send me feedback on how the above has helped. Please email me at info@cuttingedgemotivation.co.uk
