Canada Will Not Put Up with It!

Nearly everyone knows that Canada itself is a very strong country in its own right without the fact that it is in a strong political relationship with the USA. Although Canada and the USA cooperate on military campaigns as well as foreign policies they do actually make many of their own decisions. there are two major decisions they have made that the USA didn’t like at all

The choice to keep full relations with Cuba

The relations between Cuba and Canada go back way before the Cold war even started. Way back in the 18th century, Canada actually traded codfish as well as beer, rum and sugar with the Cubans. As well as this, Cuba was actually the first country in the Caribbean chosen by Canada for a diplomatic mission. In fact Canada and Mexico were the only two countries to keep uninterrupted relations with Cuba once the Cuban revolution had started in 1959. The USA kept trying to convince Canada to stop communications with the Cubans they still continue to have a good relationship. Canadians also love to go to Cuba on holidays.

The decision not to take part in the Iraq War

This is something that would have hit the USA where it hurt due to the fact the countries are so close in the way the military ajoined. Canads have no intentions to ever step foot into Iraq. It was never a good idea to go into that war to start with so perhaps Canada made the right decision there.
