<p>The Therapeutic Value of Laughter.Laughter is a fascinating phenomena that brings relaxation, a state of Well-Bring, and relief from pain, while exercising our entire body. As early at the 14th century, the medical community was beginning to recognize the healing power of humor. Both scientists and lay persons have done research and performed experiments concerning the effects of laughter on our physical, emotional and mental health. These studies have proven that when we laugh, there is an actual chemical change in our bodies that helps to ease pain and reduce stress.</p>

<p>Humor Therapy. Norman Cousins is often described as the man who laughed his way to health. Cousins discovered the healing qualities of humor in the 1960&#8242;s when he was diagnosed with a collagen illness and his doctors could do nothing more than prescribe pain medication. When his own research revealed that negative thoughts and attitudes can result in illness, he reasoned that a positive attitude, love, faith, hope and laughter can contribute to improved health. With this conclusion, he checked out of the hospital and into a hotel where he watched humorous movies and TV shows, including the Marx Brothers and Candid Camera.</p>
<p>Amazingly, within days, he was off of all pain killers and sleeping pills. He discovered that ten minutes of boisterous laughter gave him at least two hours of pain-free sleep. Cousins continued his routine of humor therapy until he recovered, proving that laughter is indeed the best medicine and pointing the way to mind-body medicine.</p>
<p>Benefits of a Good Belly Laugh. Laughter has both short term and long term benefits for body, mind and spirit. It enhances respiration and circulation, lowers blood pressure, and boosts the immune system. It increases productivity, reduces stress and enhances sleep. Laughter reduces pain by producing endorphins that are more potent than equivalent amounts of morphine. A hearty bout of laughter induces a state of Well-Being and is a powerful coping mechanism. We simply cannot have a good belly laugh and remain highly tense at the same time.</p>
<p>So if laughter is so good, why don&#8217;t we do more of it? Why don&#8217;t we add laughing rooms to health clubs? Well, somebody already thought of that. In 1995, the first of the Laughing Clubs International were started in Bombay, India. Some of these laughing clubs incorporate jogging with their laughing. Members of these laughing clubs report feeling better and losing weight too. Whether or not it&#8217;s the laughter, the physical exercise, or just being with other people, we all know that when we laugh we simply feel better.</p>

There will be memories of times together. As the music is listened to initially in our bereavement, these songs main be painful as they trigger the acute sense of loss. Then as we hear them more, the acute sense of loss may fade and memories of the life together will be awakened.</p>
<p>Third there can be music will simply creates a mood. Musicians and composers know how to create a mood and we will all know our favourite songs to listen to at certain times. We can use these songs to help us through our mourning sometimes to change moods.</p>
<p>Finally, there will be songs that are simply and genuinely happy songs. Even in the deepest of depressions, feel-good songs cannot help but make us feel exactly that. We may not be ready for these in acute grief, but as time presses on, we may feel we need these as we find we need to rediscover ourselves in our new life without the one we loved.</p>
<p>Listening to songs about death and mourning may seem at first to be a little morbid, but in reality music can help us through our grief.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[<p>Building good relationships should be a main priority in life. How important are your personal relationships to you? How highly do you value your relationships with colleagues, acquaintances, friends and family? </p>

<p>The way in which you experience relationships is a reflection of you as a person. From when you were a small baby you learned to understand your sense of self through the reactions and expressions of the people who you came into contact with. Relationships with friends, family, colleagues, etc are on-going interactions which continually reshape and re-form your sense of self.</p>
<p>In this sense your own distant and intimate relationships are opportunities to learn and to grow; in fact they are your greatest opportunity in which to do just this. From those earliest years we learn to look to other human beings for reassurance and approval. As adults we do many things in this search for approval. For example we follow trends in the clothes we wear and the food which we eat.</p>
<p>The more independent of us may think that we do the sorts of things which we do because we are adventurous or because we like simply to try new things out. We may laugh and say to ourselves and others that we like to &#8220;rock the boat&#8221; or to rebel against &#8220;conformity&#8221;. But even in doing those things which are diverse and different from the majority of the &#8220;crowd&#8221; we are still seeking a reaction and confirmation of our sense of self.</p>
<p>Relationships form a huge arena in which we can learn more about ourselves, test things out and grow and stretch as a person. The types of relationships which you enter into and maintain say a lot about you as a person. To hold back from relationships or to shy away from them effectively prevents you from growing, stretching and changing. Your relationships, and the quality of them, reflect a learning curve of your own understanding of life. As you build good relationships you reflect good learning.</p>
<p>Shyness or a lack of confidence can become the enemy warriors who stand in guard at the entryway to this relationship arena. Insecure relationships are a reflection of these feelings and self-beliefs. But these are learned expressions of self belief which can be changed so long as you know how to do so. Hypnosis allows access to the inner regions of your mind, to those places where learned patterns of self-belief have been stored and guarded.</p>
<p>You may well feel that a lack of confidence keeps you imprisoned within wall upon wall of limitations. But you can unlock those doors and scale those walls with the help of hypnosis. <p>One thing you should understand is that the universe has an ironic sense of humor; it will give you exactly what you ask for, and no less. For today&#8217;s lesson, we will use the lottery as the example. Without further ado, how many times have you prayed and wished to win the lottery? I am willing to bet you have already won, and don&#8217;t realize it. Most states and regions have a lottery system that when you buy a ticket there are levels that you can win, for example if you match two you get a free ticket, and if you match three you get like five bucks, and so on. Have you matched two or three? If so then you have won the lottery, your prayer was answered and your wish granted, but you did not realize it. So you see you did win the lottery, yet you were not happy.</p>
<p>The universe does what it does to make us happy, it likes the feeling of happy and will do whatever it must do to grant your desires in an effort to make you happy. If you receive something and it makes you happy then you should offer gratitude to the universe to ensure that you continue to receive more things that make you happy. When you matched three numbers and got your five bucks, did you thank the universe for making you happy? Probably not, if fact you were most likely feeling a little disappointed. So you confused the universe and caused it to no longer want to help you win the lottery as it didn&#8217;t make you happy.</p>
<p>Well what does this have to do with think and grow rich? It has a lot to compare to, in that you have to think, and think in the correct manner to grow rich. Sure, there are many other ways to get rich besides the lottery so you must accept the fact that now you need to find a different way to grow rich as the universe will no longer help you to win the lottery. I hear you ask the question; &#8220;so how do I think correctly?&#8221; The answer is that you must desire, and then use words to convince your subconscious to ask for the thing, and then be persistent in your behavior. It certainly caught my eye as it focuses upon the interactions between personal and professional success with levels of happiness.</p>

<p>Over the last few decades much research has been carried out with regards to the science of happiness. A state of happiness is after all what we would all wish to experience. There are many different and varied goals which we might pursue, but ultimately the thing which we seek through any of these diverse routes is happiness.</p>
<p>One of the many pieces of research has identified that to achieve professional success does not necessarily mean that you will achieve corresponding levels of happiness. But success in your personal life, in your marriage or close relationships, does provide a good indication of happiness. More money might lead you to greater happiness, but not necessarily so; a good relationship is far more likely to pave the way to happiness (and also longevity, but that is another story).</p>
<p>So why are so many more people in this day and age apparently so fixated upon their careers and monetary goals, seemingly oblivious to the potential negative impact upon their relationships? It seems that we are searching for happiness in the wrong places and perhaps it is time for many of us to take a step back and view our lives from a different angle.</p>
<p>This can however be hard to do when we live in a society where our self confidence, self image and sense of achievement is often measured by what we do as opposed to who we really are. Our sense of identity can become blurred and indistinct as our professional persona grows larger and our inner self takes a back seat. As time goes by it becomes easier to live with that persona as it becomes more familiar to us, and frequently shields us from our inner fears and doubts.</p>
<p>Many of us reach a point where we do not want to let go of either the trappings of a successful career or the persona of that successful professional image. But if it is not making you happy or, worse still, standing in the way of your happiness, then it is time for a change. When one reaches such an insight, it becomes important to strip away a few of those superficial layers and look instead at ones inner reality.</p>
<p>Hypnosis is very helpful in this process as it allows you to access your subconscious mind, the part where instinctive thoughts and behaviors are stored. In effect, hypnosis allows you to take a step back and see things from a different angle. Hypnosis helps you to relax in the moment and to experience happiness at the same time.</p>

<p>It seems much more comfortable for us to tell someone about our problems repeatedly over and over again. We also fall victim to listening to someone else tell us about their negative stories. It is so important that we take charge of our thoughts and action and turn negative thoughts and actions into positive and prosperous behavior.</p>
<p>How To Take Control In Three Easy Steps:</p>
<p>Step 1.</p>
<p>Read and recite positive affirmations daily.</p>
<p>Step 2.</p>
<p>Block negative thoughts when they creep into your minds eye. Remember replace all negative thoughts and actions with positive and prosperous thoughts and behaviors.</p>
<p>Step 3.</p>
<p>Share your positive thoughts with your friends, family members and peers whenever you can.</p>
<p>Dispel all negativity from your thoughts and surroundings. Keep your focus on positive and prosperous thoughts, beliefs, and actions. Remember you are the master of your universe.</p>
<p>Start each day with a positive focus. Tell yourself you are going to live a fantastic life, after all you deserve the good life. Keep your thoughts and beliefs on positive and prosperous actions for the entire day.</p>
<p>Remember our thoughts guide our life. And to have the positive and prosperous life we long for we must keep good thoughts and behaviors in our hearts and mind even when faced with negativity. 		<description><![CDATA[<p>I’m reading a great book at the moment called “An Intelligent Life” and in it, the author, Dr Julian Short says that humans have only 2 primary emotional needs:<br />
•	Belonging (love &#038; acceptance)<br />
•	Territory (dignity &#038; individuality)<br />
He explains the concept of territory further in that it’s more than material things and places. But, rather also, your individuality which includes your philosophy, ethics, morality, what you want and what you believe to be true. (I’ve paraphrased slightly.) Simply put, these are some of the things that collectively help define you as being separate from everyone else.<br />
I attended a ‘Life Map’ session this week and funny enough the concept of “home” came up for group discussion. Questions surfaced like “Where is home”? A consensus was that it’s not just a physical structure or a relationship – and it’s even more than a country or birth-place.<br />
Cate Jones, from Shelter SA says “The meaning of home, of a protected refuge, is very often connected with comfort, relationships, family, relatives, friends and the traditional rituals that give meaning to our lives. But home is also related to memory, a wish to honour the past and communicate to others our identities through the spirit of our homes.”<br />
I noticed here that the concept of identity and territory are hand-in-hand again.<br />
Do you experience a sense of belonging in your own skin? And in your external world?<br />
Both contribute to a sense of who you are.</p>

<p>On July 2nd, we’re officially half way through the calendar year and 30th June heralds the end of the financial year in Australia. For me, this naturally brings with it reflection on what really matters, has mattered and how I want to move forward. Armed with this book I asked myself questions like:<br />
•	What do I want?<br />
•	Where do I belong?<br />
My E-book “Creating Life Change” which I finished about 18 months ago documents the journey (external &#038; internal) regarding my migration. As I converted this into an audio book this past week I naturally re-heard what I’d written. I realised again how actively involved and participatory I was in creating a new life for myself in a foreign country. <br />
We’re becoming citizens next week and it feels like we’ve always been here. So yes, this is where I belong now. No change is required, although my birthplace with my history is what I still call “home”.<br />
The integration of all these parts is who I am (and what I want to be).</p>
<p>The next part of my reflection included chunking down my time and having a look at how I spend it – and with whom. The people-part of our life is also a conscious decision, believe it or not. Although the big picture of belonging &#038; home seemed right to me, I needed to align the moments with what I wanted in my big picture. <br />
There is an old joke “How do you eat an elephant?”<br />
Bite by bite. <br />
So – by knowing that all my moments create my years I’ve made some changes to how I spend my moments. And these changes have been by choice.<br />
A number of clients who see me, initially start with feeling challenged with the apparent “new” concept of choice. Adults often forget that they do actually have choice. <br />
These clients have spent so many years in the limiting mindset of responsibility, martyrdom and sometimes even victim – that the freedom associated with choice is liberating.</p>
<p>So my question here is – what choices are you making to constructively to fulfil your 2 basic needs of territory and belonging?<br />
So take the time out to reflect on where your life is at but first acknowledge how you’re feeling about things now. <br />
Do you have love (belonging) and identity (territory)?</p>
<p>Remember that all your choices result in thoughts and/or behaviour. <br />
And as you also know, thoughts and behaviour create your reality.</p>
<p>Doesn’t it then make sense for this to happen from an intelligent, conscious choice?</p>
<p>It IS possible to understand how you feel about things and make a relevant, intelligent and self-empowering choice. <br />
Ignore the fearful mind which tells you what to do and rather acknowledge how you want to feel. Are you spending time where you feel loved &#038; accepted as an individual with dignity?</p>
<p>If not – it’s up to you to do what’s necessary. <br />
You can change and recreate things.<br />
You already have both the inner intelligence and ability.</p>
<p>“If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is compromise.”<br />
