Do Some Atheists Show Too Much Respect to Religious People?
If you give religious people any respect at all, it is misplaced respect, right? There are insects that deserve more respect than religious people, aren’t there? What motivates some atheists to respect religious people at all? Is it because they have family who still haven’t woken up? Or is it because deep down, they still have some residual religious brainwashing left over from their childhood?
Suggestion:
Some do, but you definitely don't.

I disagree. People deserve respect. Some beliefs do not, but that's a completely different matter.
If someone thinks there's a God who forbids them to eat haggis on thursdays, don't try to make them eat haggis on thursdays because, however stupidly, *they* think it's wrong.
But such a person should not apply for a job as a haggis-taster.
Nor should there be any government money gong into schools run by the nohaggisonthursdayites.
All people deserve my respect, unless they're a dumbass. But NO religion does
I think that, in general, sane people show too much respect to insane people. Religious or not.
Oh, now! I just like to make sure we at least get equal time. But it IS frustrating that lies get equal time with the truth, because their lies do not deserve equal time with the truth.
I agree, but I was taught to show respect to others, regardless.
Why we laugh at the creationists…

Why atheists should be intolerant.

Still, I try to keep a straight face and just answer the question.
There's no harm in showing respect.
