From Mediocrity to Abundance

Roxanne Emmerich is America’s most sought-after workplace transformation expert. She has built a career on her unique ability to transform negative workplace environments into positive and productive work cultures. As a speaker and coach, she has been able to help workplaces get unstuck and achieve radically improved results quickly.

An accomplished author, Roxanne has published hundreds of articles in leading publications on topics about workplace breakthrough issues. She also has a bestselling new book, Thank God It’s Monday! With such a provocative title, she is often asked what inspired her to write the book, and she shares that it’s about recapturing that first-day-at-work feeling before we are infected by those around us with mediocrity.

She believes that people can be shifted from mediocrity to something more. Coming from a background of poverty and scarcity herself, Roxanne’s passion is to support people having power, abundance and fun in their lives. Her self-described mission in life is to ensure everyone can recapture that first-day-of-work feeling, and she has ways to shift people toward that that are both fun and easy.

In fact, it has nothing to do with the work. It’s really about getting people to understand that we choose our attitudes. We choose to be amazing or we choose to shoot wildly for mediocrity. It’s about mindset. It’s about belief. And it’s about vision. For example, Roxanne tells her clients, “You’re going to be hearing a lot about recession over the next couple of years. Make sure to tell your employees, ‘We didn’t sign up and we’re not participating!” You can hear the passion and abundance evident in her words.

How do you see your obstacles? All of our lives have them. How we view them is a choice. Years ago, Roxanne read about a mindset that intrigued her. The condensed version is this: whenever bad things happen in your life, remember they are creating space for good things to follow. When we embrace this philosophy in our life, we cease being victims. We choose our reactions to obstacles and challenges.

Visions play a vital role in our lives, and they come from our strongest values and from what is most important to us as individual s. That’s key. When we live from that vision in our business and personal lives, remarkable things will happen. This is why Roxanne encourages all of us to develop our vision.

Living in serious times, it’s easy to take ourselves too seriously. We can make another choice, though. We can choose to live a lighter, more joyful life. We can choose to give instead of take. We can choose to open up to life. We can decide to be happy. Roxanne speaks about the world’s accounting system: givers get and takers lose. The choice is ours. With a mindset of abundance and gratitude, we can choose to life with joy and generosity.
