From the time that I could read, the phrase “Knowledge is Power” was plastered on every wall in my bedroom. My father always made it explicitly known that if I worked hard to acquire as much knowledge as I could; the possibilities of the future were limitless. This not only included knowledge from textbooks and teachers, but knowledge about myself and knowledge about life; and this knowledge along with my potential, he constantly emphasized, would create opportunities for me that surpassed the force of all prejudice. His confidence in me has been a driving factor in my life and because of him; I give one hundred and ten percent of myself to everything I do.
I believe that one of the most selfless things he has ever done was joining the United States Army. This choice made me study, work diligently, and become the best student I could possibly be, because while being an American soldier was his job, school was mine. I will never forget the day my father came home after a five month tour in Iraq. As he walked off the plane and came into the airport, there were looks of gratitude from every individual present. To most, my father was a soldier who fought to protect the United States of America. To me however, he was much more. He was my father whose love for his family and love for his country had motivated him to protect them at all odds. At that moment I promised that everything I did in life, I would do well enough to make my father proud. I felt that I not only had to be an excellent student, but an excellent daughter, an excellent sister, an excellent friend, and an excellent person. This mindset has definitely changed my life forever. I want to prove that the risks that he has taken and the sacrifices that he has made for me throughout my life have not been in vain and I know nothing in this world would fulfill him more than to see his only daughter succeed in life.
Due to the values my father has instilled in me, I am a strong, driven and confident young woman. As I journey to college, I will keep all of his wisdom in my mind and in my heart. Because of him, I have the motivation to be the best student and person that I can be. My dad is my teacher and my role model, but most importantly, he is my hero.
Confidence is a set of beliefs you have in yourself, and will determine your success in life.
Many people who have low confidence have had negative things happen to them in their life: You can increase your confidence by using positive affirmations, changing your beliefs, or by reprogramming your conscious and subconscious thoughts.
Using positive affirmations correctly is one of the best methods to increase confidence and self esteem. Repeat affirmations for 7 to 10 minutes at night just before you fall asleep or when you wake up in the morning: It is at these times your subconscious mind is more receptive to receiving them.
As you continue to do this you will notice positive things happening in your life
