Suggestion:
see i completly understand your problem. i used to be overwieght and just the fact of going to the store i would be embarrassed. well the way i see it is you have 2 options, 1 is even tho it is hard to over come your fear with people around you you must try.you must stay focused on the your workout and it is better to go with someone you know then by yourself, and once you go a few times you will get used to it and the pressure would be off. the 2nd is you could work out at home or another gym but trust me the 1st is the best and most helpful. just relax and do what you want to do..

I hate working out in front of people especially of the opposite sex I just feel shy.. try to go to only women fitness clubs ..
Well, the only gym i go to is the one on a Marine Corp Base (its the only place for free), so yes im pretty sure people (perverted dudes) are watching me. I catch them in the mirrors all the time! Its so embarrassing, but i dont let that stop me. I do my best not to stare back, and i know they just seeing my progress
Get that confidence up, once you get into routine and comfortable with the place, you wont even notice anymore
You need to realize that nobody else cares. They're doing their own thing and they're too busy to notice if you're doing something wrong – unless you make a big honking deal out of it. You may think you're super important and attention-grabbing, but nobody else does.
