I Need Your Honest Opinions, Would You Read My Novel?

Painting memories was inspired by two horses in my life.. Kyra, my old lease horse and Nimbus, a 6 year old gelding who I really hope to buy. I took ideas from my experiences with Kyra and mixed them with the bond I hope to have with Nimbus. Star, the mare in my story is a black and white paint, with blue eyes and looks just like Nimbus. If I find that enough people would read my story, I might have it published. Painting Memories, is over 300 pages long and is quite tear jerking.

I'm still working on the description that I would put on the back of the book but I'm going to put what I have so far:
Painting Memories is the inspirational story of a girl who finds her true self in her horse. After facing several challenges in life, Katie feels as if her horse, Star, is the only one who really gets her.

More info to come, the story isn't quite finished, I'm still doing a few touch ups, and my mom is going to edit it, so far I have just over 300 pages and will be adding about one or two more.
So I would like honest opinions, would you read this story? Do you think it's worth publishing?
I have written several novels, I have never published one but I feel like this one is my best so far..
What are your thoughts or opinions?

Thanks!!

Suggestion:

Hi English Cowgirl!

I think that's a great idea! Writing a novel from your feelings creates the best stories! From your previous questions I remember that Kyra is the horse you were so sad about losing and Nimbus (or Monarch?) Is the one you are so excited about getting.

A big contrast! Writing when your feelings are contrasted like that would certainly bring up a great storie:). And I love the plot so far. 300 pages? That great! I would definitly read it. Good luck!

This sounds like a very interesting story! That is great that you wrote over 300 pages! I think this is worth publishing!

Sounds like the same little kiddy story that everyone has read a thousand times before.

I really doubt you have "written several novels before." You can't even compose a simple internet post well.

You're like 14. You are no novelist. You're an average kid with access to the internet and Microsoft Word.

Here's the problem with having a wishy-washy horse storyline: children who have horses will know it's so BS and fake. Children who do not have horses will not be interested enough. You are looking at a relatively small audience. It could be the best story in the world but if it's on a topic that no one is interested in you have a major problem. I'm not saying a horse topic is a bad idea, everyone in this section obviously loves horses, but "Star is the only one who really gets her" is a little, well, lame.

That being said, post it on an online thread. I'd still like to read it.

Maybe. Generally stories like that are for Young Adults-Older kids (early teens basically) but I'll still read it out of support.

Honest opinion:

Sounds like a nice book for tween-teens girls. There are many books similar that range from easy to hard(along with kids books {pretty sure these are the correct titles}, pony pals, thoroughbred, dreamer series, etc). however, 300 pages sounds more like a "young adult book". I personally would read it knowing that it is based more on your actual experiences. (I enjoy hearing about others and their horses)

Good luck! I hope you get published! (and that you are able to get Nimbus!)

Honestly, probably not. There are SO many books out today that I like to stick with authors that I know write about real life. You story sounds very tweeny, and nothing that would relate to my life as an adult. I did also read about 30 books that sound just like this when I was a tween. It's a book that's already been-there, done-that, so you better have some big twists in the plot if you want it to stand out at all.

Have you ever been on either of these websites?

I highly recommend posting your story on either of these sites. This way, you can receive constructive criticism and see how much in demand your stories are. Some of the top writers on these sites aren't even close to being published–I think you might realize you have a bit to go yet. Most people don't get work published until they are well out of college.

Come to think of it, I have a story on there that I posted long ago. Ah, I just reread it for old memories. So good, but not even close to the degree of being published.

I have known 2 published authors in my life. You are the first to finish the "blurb" for the jacket cover before finishing the story. And remember it has to be a compelling story line with developed characters. Send off what you have to an agent and get their opinion. Most only want the first chapter to get the general idea of how you write and what the story is going to be about. They will then, if they see something in it, give you encouragement and suggestions and ask you to send them more as it is completed. Me personally, I wouldn't read it unless someone held a gun to my head but that doesn't mean it won't be wildly successful.
