Learning Japanese How to Get Started and Motivate Self to Keep Learning?

I'm moving to Japan when im older currently 13 in 8th and plan on being a Psychologist but don't know if i want to get my PhD in Japan or get it here and go there after(or if you can even do that)

But either way i know i need to know Japanese and i want to know how to get started(or how you started if your learning it) and if you did anything to motivate yourself.

Thank you for taking your time to read this and i appreciate your answers.

Suggestion:

Congratulations on your interest to learn Japanese. Seeing as you are still young, I would suggest seeing if your high school perhaps offers it as a language that you could take instead of Spanish, French or any of the other traditional languages taught in secondary school. If that is not available, it is also possible that depending on where you live, you might be able to hire some sort of Japanese tutor to instruct you in communicating effectively in Japanese. In addition, if the resources are available to you, once you start learning Japanese, I would try to embark on one of those Abroad Language Immersion Tours. The more that you are surrounded by a language and are forced to communicate using it, the more proficient you will become!

I started learning Japanese because I am part Japanese by my mother and I started taking it in high school and am currently in my fourth year of learning it. I keep myself motivated by remembering that the reason that I wanted to learn it was become of my heritage. Hearing your motivation, it sounds like your dream will be enough to help you pull through!

Worst comes to worst, if you are planning to go to a university, chances are that they would offer a course in the Japanese Language.
