Should Covert Hypnosis Be Banned?

Covert hypnosis is a skill that gives a person the ability to use subtle forms of verbal and sometimes non-verbal communications to sway the opinions and decisions of other people without their knowledge or their consent.

It was first employed by hypnotherapists as a means of creating deep states of trance very quickly.

By bypassing the critical thinking functions of the conscious mind, and communicating directly to the subconscious mind, hypnotists found that they could induce trance almost instantly and also reprogram the behaviours, beliefs, thoughts and emotions of their subjects without having to deal with the usual resistance that would be offered through the use of conventional hypnotherapy approaches.

This form of hypnosis was kept a closely guarded secret for many years because of its power and the ability of a skilled user to manipulate people without their knowledge.

Because covert hypnosis can be used to sway the opinions and decisions of others and because it can be used to hypnotize someone without their knowledge many people have called for it to be banned and its teaching to be outlawed.

Although some people reading this may be sceptical about the power of covert hypnosis to influence people without their knowledge they should follow the links below and watch video evidence of actual crimes being committed through the use of covert hypnosis!

Because covert hypnosis relies very heavily on the use of tone, sentence and word pacing as well as the subtle use of deliberate words that could easy be seen as “out of place” when spoken by a novice or untrained person it is often referred to as conversational hypnosis.

Although it is extremely powerful its application is very easy to learn. No knowledge, or even understanding, of the hypnotic process is needed because no hypnotic state is entered into – at least in the conventional sense.

With conventional hypnosis a subject will be directed to close their eyes and enter into a deeply relaxed state. This is not the case with covert hypnosis. In fact it is necessary to ensure that the subject has no idea that they are being hypnotized at all for covert hypnosis to be effective.

It is possible to use this form of hypnotic influence on a one-on-one basis but it can also be used on huge crowds of thousands of people although in such an instance the person using it would need to be highly skilled and very experienced to “pull off” such a stunt.

The average person can easily learn to use this influential mind tool within a few days and after a few weeks experience can easily influence an entire group or gathering.

Should this form of influence be banned?

Well that is an ethical question that you should answer yourself. However, you may be more interested in learning how to do than stopping others from using it because once you are skilled in this art of persuasion you will be well aware when anyone else is trying to use it on you and thus you will be immune to their influence. However, you will still be able to use it on others!
