Successfully Dealing with Anxiety Attacks
I was somewhere in my mid-20s whenever I first started to have my first bouts with anxiety attacks. Even though I realized that it was always a possibility of having these anxiety attacks, especially since both my parents suffered from them, I was hoping that eventually I would be able to go through my life without dealing with them. As it turns out, they were simply waiting inside of me to come out whenever I turned a little bit older.
The first one came upon me a little bit unexpectedly, it was one of the most unusual feelings that I ever had. It started out as a pain in my chest, almost as if I was having a bad case of heartburn but it grew further than that. Over the course of the next few hours, I begin to experience all of the classic symptoms of anxiety attacks, from breaking out into a cold sweat to feeling as if I was going to lose control of myself.
The thought that I was going to suffer from panic attacks had always been in the back of my mind but it still took me by surprise whenever I felt the sensations. The unfortunate thing is, not being able to recognize it immediately left me in a rather precarious situation. You probably understand exactly what I’m talking about, as anxiety attacks are certainly something that none of us are used to whenever we first began experiencing them. We may feel as if we have a very serious health problem but if we are able to get beyond these feelings we may be able to deal with the panic successfully.
In talking with a number of different people who have also suffered with panic attacks, I found that they tended to fight the panic as if it were going to go away faster as if they attacked it in return. The funny thing is, it rarely ever works this way and it is usually working exactly the opposite way for you. The harder you struggle against the waves of panic that are overcoming you, the more difficult it is going to be for you to overcome the situation and the feelings that you are having. I’m sure that you have experienced this for yourself.
If you would like to know a little secret that can help you overcome these anxiety attacks much quicker, it would be to simply allow the anxiety to go underneath you instead of trying to fight your way directly through the middle of it. Think of yourself as if you were riding on top of a wave of the ocean. There’s no way that you would be able to fight the wave, the only thing that you could possibly do is stay on top and allow it to do its work. This is exactly what I started to do with my anxiety attacks.
This was the absolute best thing I could have ever done for my anxiety and I started to notice a few different things. First of all, I was much more refreshed after the anxiety attack had gone away in a was able to successfully deal with any others that followed close behind it. I also began to notice that the attacks lasted much shorter and that they were coming a lot further apart. If you are able to do this for yourself, you might be able to overcome your anxiety attacks naturally and easily, much the same way that I did.
