Talking to the "unseen You"

The term self-talk or talking to yourself refers to all the thoughts and words you say to yourself from when you wake up in the morning until when you go to sleep at night. Throughout the day you have string of thoughts and messages that you say to yourself without even being aware of them.

Talking positive to yourself entails thoughts that you consciously and carefully choose to reprogram your subconscious to produce specific results. These are positive information and messages that you think and say to yourself.

Talking positive to and about yourself has the power to energize and support you. Think about a victory in sports and games, a report you felt good about, or any time you felt good about, or any time you felt confident and motivated. Through conscious repetition, effort, and attention you can improve your self-image and your overall performance.

Experts in Psychology and Medical Science have proven that our thoughts trigger chemical impulses in the brain that influence attitude, character and physical reactions. What you say to and about yourself affect your physical, emotional and intellectual traits.

Once you start paying attention to this, you will be amazed at how much of it is negative. Throughout the day, countless thoughts and images go through your brain unnoticed, but they have a tremendous impact on your mind and attitude.

Psychology Experts estimate that more than 75 percent of what we say to ourselves is negative. And such negative thoughts, when given a positive consideration, making it nearly impossible to become motivated or perform at your climax.

The first step, then, is to be conscious of your thoughts and assess what you are communicating. If they are really negative, then replace them with positive thoughts that will boost your confidence.

Once we have assessed our strengths, areas of concern and preferred learning style, we can then reshape our thoughts process and literally reprogram our minds.
