The Golfing Mind of Today

“The subconscious being your inner map or what we like to call self image is stored. The subconscious stores everything, every experience and event throughout our lives, to make us who we think we are, not who we actually are, but who we think we are. It is extremely difficult to change this inner map consciously, because the subconscious is extremely lazy!! It always rejects suggestions that go against who you believe you are.


Sometimes whilst we are not in hypnosis, a suggestion is rejected by our subconscious because it does not reflect how we actually view ourselves. A good example is someone who is slightly overweight being told they are slim, obviously they think of themselves as overweight and therefore will reject that suggestion. Its amazing watching someone who thinks of themselves being overweight transformed after a few weeks of hypnosis, simply because in hypnosis we talk straight to their subconscious and they start believing they are slim, and therefore they become slim. They start running different programmes and interpret themselves in a different light, you can never be someone that your subconscious doesn’t believe you are. My point is we always reflect to the world what we believe we are.

This is where golf mind comes in, I have a strong belief that we are nowhere close to realising our full potential within ourselves, our minds and bodies are so interconnected its crazy. I believe we actually make golf harder by thinking its harder. With the help of our inner game we can simply tell our subconscious to focus on it being easy and simple. In a way reprogram our minds to getting the ball towards the target and have confidence and positivity throughout the course. People have talked at length about golf being a mind game, and that’s what it is. Think about standing over a 3 foot putt on a putting green, pretty simple hey? Now think of that same putt to win the US masters, well I tell you the body would be a bit more tense, the palms might sweat, knees get weak, but hang on it’s the same putt. Its still 3 foot, you still have the same putter, and you are still in the same body. What’s different is that the mind is telling us it is, so the body reacts differently to the experience. With golf hypnosis, you will simply visualise over and over those feelings of confidence, and because the hypnotist is speaking directly to your subconscious you have a belief of being confident. You fill the subconscious with new positive programming and suddenly your body will conform to what your subconscious believes. After working on our mind, after you have filled your subconscious with thoughts that you are the greatest golfer that ever lived, you suddenly will be, and you will start enjoying the beautiful game even more!!”
