What Are Some Successful Ways of Staying Motivated?

My boyfriend and I both work out, but we feel like we could be working out harder and making better progress. I was thinking maybe we could take measurements and pictures to keep us on track, but what are some more fun ways to keep going and looking forward to meeting our goals?

P.S. I was trying to think of something like the star system that parents use when their kids are good or maybe teachers use when their students do well – but how could I incorporate that into our workouts? Maybe make it competitive? (Do you know what I'm talking about?)

Answer:

Heres an effective method that worked for me:

1.Invest in a white board or something that you can write on and keep near your bed or on the wall by your bed. Write on it something like "I will work out today because i know i need and want to and it will better me and keep me fit!!" It being the first thing in your head at the start of the day is most effective. Alot of people do this.

2.Talk about working out out loud often, the more you speak outloud (in a positive manner) ABOUT working out will plant it into your sub-concious mind and therefore you will find ways and paths to doing what you want to do (workout more)

3. Read and watch motivational "stuff" , this helps inspire / motivated you and gives you a nice feeling inside to do what you want, often times this will contribute to your courage and help you act upon your goals – Heres a few good motivational videos i found on a site http://www.feel-motivated-today.com/MotivationalVideos.html WATCH THEM. :)
