some stories of great boxers have been really inspirational to a lot of people. from joe louis uniting america to muhammad ali showing the world that everything should be equal and violence or discrimination was never a good thing by standing his ground. some boxers who grew from the streets like duran and pacquiao rose from poverty. men like these showed maybe, just maybe any man could be successfuly if they put heart and dedication to whatever they love doing the most. in this sport of boxing, it has been proven from time to time that even if you are not the most skillful fighter on earth, you can still be successful if you give it your all. rocky maricano is one great example. the man was almost always the smaller man. almost always the slower man. he was nowhere near a good technician but he won not only all his fights but the hearts of the boxing world. who would not adore a man that would never back down despite all the disadvantages he had against tougher and more skillful foes? talk about heart and you'll think of joe frazier. the man never knew fear. knock him down as many times as you can but there will be no quit in him, right big george? what about harry greb, mickey walker, sam langford, bob fitzsimmons who often had to fight bigger men just meet challenges that would prove their greatness? this proves that size does not mean everything which is almost equal to saying, with all the bad things happening to you and no matter how tough it seems, there would always be some shiit in you that could defy all the damn odds if you freakin believe lol. boxing isnt all about heart and power too. sometimes, it takes practice, practice and practice. some men dont wanna get hit. some men lack power. some lack the style to brawl but are incredibly smart. these men got fabulous reflexes and willingness to learn. these maybe the things that pushed or made them the great defensive masters they were and still are. im too tired now and im at work so i cannot focus on the subject lol so forgive me if this post is a whole mess. anyway i hope you get the point, sorry. thoughts? thanks and you all have a great day!
"Irish" Micky Ward. I'm not trying to insinuate that "Irish" Micky Ward is a weak
man or a weak fighter by no means. "Irish" Micky Ward was a strong fighter and
one of the best body punchers in the sport. For a long time Ward was seen as a
"stepping stone" for other fighters to advance their careers to the next level when
he finally won a world title when he defeated Shea Neary in the year 2000, Ward
finally fulfilled his destiny in being a world champion. Micky Ward was truly good
inspiration for any fighter that if you put in the time, hard work and dedication you
can succeed in boxing and all things are possible if you've a heart and the talent.

I don't believe this boxer, athlete, statesman, warrior/general exists beyond the pages of fictitious realities designed to suit the desires of the writer. These great boxers you mentioned provided templates for others to partially copy, but if these fighters never existed the drive and talents needed to become successful in the sport would still exist in the children that idolized them. I have never met anyone with a modicum of success, in any area of life, that didn't draw from their internal abilities and fortunate external circumstances outside their control. Yes, it makes for great books and movies to say a Ali grew up idolizing Joe Louis to the point that the spirit of the brown bomber allowed him to ascend to the top of boxing. It warms the heart to believe that Manny Pacquiao spent nights gazing into the stars drawing power from past Filipino hero's during his periods of despair, but these warm feelings designed to please children should provide no comfort for men.
When one moves beyond the story tales you find a man in Louis that was treated worse in this country than German POW's, a man in Ali that made no real positive impact on the lives of people of his ethnic group (unlike other athletes/entertainers during his era) and as great a fighter Manny has become, there are thousands in his country that could have accomplished similar feats if provided similar opportunities.
