Why Do People Believe in a Religion That is Supposed to Be Based in the Bible but It is So Far from It?

I am wondering what motivates people to follow a religion that has little to do with the bible they so much preach about? For that matter why do "they" feel insulted when asked "why follow this religion?" Someone explain why they rather live in ignorance of the flaws in their religion! Just explain

Who says that the Christianity people practice is "so far from" what the bible says? It reads like a celebration of all the worst human qualities (but what else would you expect from the primitive semi-barbaric people that authored it?). At least the first half.
